on my way

1 min read
well, i've given up on all other forms of social networking...this one seems to be the last holdout for me, and i think i like it best because of how relatively anonymous it is.  for me at least.  in any case, within the past few months, i've seen a change of direction in my creative focus, veering away from the my comfortable exploits in illustration and drawing.  i have become intrigued recently in more 3-dimensional art forms, and i imagine that much of the work i will submit to here in the near future will be sculpture or carpentry related.  in the anticipation of going to art school (finally), i will be building a portfolio as well, full of a lot of different things.

i look at the digital work i was doing four or five years ago and i don't relate to it any longer.  i may be going backwards, getting more primitive.  these days i much prefer to get my hands dirty.

so i've been on dA for two years and i've never written a journal.  and until tonight, i had never looked at the download count on my deviations.  i was pleasantly surprised!  i didn't realize that people might actually download my drawings.  but it seems that a few of them are at least liked by a couple people.  kind of interesting.
in any case, my gallery is in dire need of an update.  i haven't produced a final work since i began my apprenticeship...too busy, too tired.  but i've recently gathered up a few of my life drawing studies that i think are a much better representation of where i'm at with my art.  the stuff in my gallery right now is all so old that almost every piece inspires me to blush a little in embarrassment.  not that i'm not a master by any means but i know that i've improved leaps and bounds in some areas, even just within the past year.  i have some other random little stuff i'd like to put up too.  some stuff in progress that is gonna need to get put up.
it seems that my art these days is split between tattoo-related and non tattoo-related.  like either it's part of my long attempt to improve my observational drawing techniques or it's flash.  i've been simultaneously trying to work on my really traditional, flat, stylized drawings for tattoos, and my efforts toward honest realism.  i still have a long way to go with both, but i would like to put up everything i've got going on right now and maybe get some feedback.

that said, all we are is air-born mini dirt.
